Dear friends, it’s been awhile and I am happy to have at last found time to sit down and just share what God has been doing with us and in us and through God of Fashion at large (God is so great, isn’t He?).
As many of you know, in December last year, we launched a special community project, called ‘The Book Club’, and to this date, we've already had whole 3 meetings. We thank the Lord for many more to come as well as the growing community of faith+fashion believers who are willing to share their lives, experience and wisdom with the rest of the Body. And to be honest, it has been simply great, so come on in and join us for our book club’s next gathering on March 23. And if you happen to read this after the date, you may always reach us directly for the next meetings which normally happen around the second or third Thursday of each new month (simply drop us a message through the form on our main page).
In this post, I would like to share with you and bring to light some of the subjects that we have discussed in our book club sessions so far, along with some of the inputs and opinions that were offered. Many of them, to my mind, are simply brilliant, even to the point that it would be somewhat cruel to keep them just to ourselves and not share with the rest of you (including those who for whatever reason couldn’t join us this last time … lol).
Normally, for each of our book club meetings, we’d have two or three different subjects to read and acquaint ourselves with beforehand. Here down below, I am putting them in a simple just-as-they-go order, so you may see/read for yourselves what we discuss and how the Lord leads us in our sessions.
At last, I’d like to leave you with this one encouraging thought as expressed by one of our “book clubbers”: ‘In God, we are always forward-moving, even through the valleys (=obstacles). And if we find ourselves stagnated while doing the will of God, it simply means that we are impeded by something, and it is NOT a sign for us to stop but persevere and break through anything that stands on the way.’
Be encouraged, enjoy and see you soon, x
This image is one of our recent IG posts where we shared a quote from one of our God of Fashion students. It is an interesting one, isn't it?

Question#1
How to stay sober-minded and maintain your light in such a dark industry as fashion? As believers, how not to become lost in such field as fashion?
We need to remember that we’ve been placed in this field to make a Kingdom kind of impact, not to be entertained (and it is very easy to lose one’s head when the focus and priority are not set right). We are on a mission and focus is a must!
At times, we do not see believers being given high and responsible positions with companies because we lack the character that is of Christ. And this is something that is totally on us… We need to allow the process of God to kick in and establish us from the inside out.
We need to be guided by the principle of open/closed doors as they are presented to us by the Lord, not twisting God’s arm to make something happen. This principle is valid in all areas of our lives, fashion is by NO means an exception to that. But we need to remember that!
We are the light of the world; this light in us, however, is and always will be sabotaged. But sometimes, it is ourselves who allow our light to grow dim, because deep down inside, we still want to be like the rest of the world, e.g. talk like them, walk like them, to be popular with them, and not to be those “peculiar people” that Lord calls us to be in First Peter 2:9.
“But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.” 1 Peter 2:9 The Passion Translation
Question#2
Why does it seem that nowadays, creatives are more drawn and inspired by the darkness in their creative pursuits and expressions as seen in fashion collections, ad communications, etc.?
Creative people are sensitive by nature and they are easily moved by even smallest things. The average temperature of this world and the era that we are in is dangerously cold; and it is becoming progressively darker out there too. And so creative, sensitive people are just picking up on that. For those who are not in Him (or not TRULY in Him), the outcome is unambiguous, i.e. the fruits and expressions of their (creative) labor would have to go in accord with "the average temperature" of the surroundings. That is to say—designs, designers and fashion weeks become darker at large because it is just a reflection of the general reality and what happens behind the closed doors individually. Only the Lord can disperse the darkness and turn it into light.
In our creative pursuits as believers, we need to know this one thing—Don't touch what you can't handle. When Elohim told Adam and Eve not to partake from The Tree of Good & Evil, it was a constraint, but it was a constraint for their freedom; in fact, to stay within the boundaries of the Almighty One, The Maker, is the true freedom.
