It has been a long while since our last blog post, but in fact, the subject that we are about to present to you is not entirely new, but rather a development of one of our projects that has been around for quite some time. That's right—to all the folks who might have guessed by now—the project we are talking about is our monthly faith+fashion book club.
We first introduced our community meet-ups, aka ’The Book Club’, back in December 2022 and since then, we have been running interrupted faithfully every month, with an exception of June 2024. This last fact, as it happens, is not a miss on our part, but rather a necessary pause before a new beginning all of which we are going to share with you here.
The meaning behind our book clubs has always been centered around fellowship of the international faith+fashion folk (please see our original posts about it: here and here) while discussing and praying over the latest news and popular events of the global fashion industry. Those would typically be sourced from the on-topic fashion media articles, IG posts, excerpts from fashion books or some other deeper outputs on the meaning of fashion and trends, etc. The latter in fact was the focus of our most recent series in Spring 2024 as led by designer and philosopher Daniel Kirk (thank you, Daniel!). The atmosphere of our gatherings has been leaning more towards the contemplative side of things, which is fine and totally acceptable because being reflective in the presence of holy believers and His Holy Spirit is not a vanity but a command (Hebrews 10:25) and necessity. And yet, as it often is in life, as seasons change, Lord corrects our course. And that’s what happened to us. No fear though, not only are our book clubs here to stay, but they are being upgraded to a whole new level because now, we are book club workshops, and we invite all to dive into the newness of this development.
"This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing. In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning." Hebrews 10:25 TPT via Bible.com
Workshop is a wonderful concept and learning environment in which one is no longer a passive viewer, but rather is a proper, actively engaged party of the process, who is able to learn and benefit faster by leaps and bounds as compared to the one who is just present and listens. And since at God of Fashion, we are all about discipleship, education and providing the right faith+fashion resources for your growth and development, workshops seem like a genius, if not obvious, idea. And here is exactly how it will work.
Topics, subjects and themes...
Instead of screening for fashion news, we’ll now allow the news to come to us, in a way that for each of our upcoming monthly sessions, we will kindly invite one fellow faith+fashion member as a presenter of his or her life, interests, projects and other faith+fashion exploits. This way, both our lives and discussions would be enriched with real-life examples of the people who are right there in our community building and working on something on The Mountain of Arts (Fashion) & Entertainment. And this is not to mention the fact how beneficial, practical and absolutely precious the group's contribution could be to the presenter—be that in the form of ideas, leads, further suggestions or prayers.

Meaning and the bigger picture...
Why the upgrade? As mentioned above, the chief reason for it is changing of the seasons and what we refer particularly to here is how at this day and age, we as believers need to be equipped and actively engaged in what God wants us to do in this world and His Kingdom. The problem with this statement though is that we often are not aware as to where and how to start and incorporate, so to speak, God into what we do (or He asks us to do).
In July 2022, in addition to the school and ministry that we had been running since November 2020, we launched our faith+fashion consultancy—a branch that would specifically be dedicated to advising and equipping believers in how to start and develop their fashion projects. The book club workshops could be considered a community-friendly version, 'a focus group’, of it. And the need for such a tool cannot be stressed enough.
Format...
This one is very simple because it remains the same. And that is with God's grace, we will continue to meet every month online for a 1.5-hour session and anyone who has a faith+fashion idea (or an on-going project) and would like to have a community and advice around it is absolutely welcome to join us.
To express your interest, please feel free to get in touch with us at any time through the 'Contact Form' on our homepage or email us directly at: Godoffashion@pm.me.
We are excited about this our new journey and looking forward to meeting all of our new and old friends. HalleluYah and thank You, Lord!
